Why a father & son trip
There's something about being on the water — no screens, no distractions, nowhere to be — that opens things up between a father and his son in a way that everyday life doesn't.
We've watched it happen on every trip. Quietly at first, then deeper. By the third night around the fire, the real stuff comes out. What you're proud of. What you want for each other. Things you've been meaning to say for years.
This is a space we're building intentionally — because it matters, and because not enough fathers and sons have this.

"Driftwood Paddle led my son and me on an unforgettable trek through the Algonquin wilderness — an experience that will stay with us for a lifetime. Every detail was taken care of, and CK has a rare gift for making both the young and the not-so-young feel capable of things they never imagined. We came home closer than ever."

“I took my son and his cousin out for what ended up being something really special for all of us. From sharing great meals and long conversations to canoeing through the beauty of Algonquin, hiking, and lake dips — it was the kind of trip that brings you closer together in ways everyday life just doesn't."
Chris E.★★★★★
"I brought my son and his cousins — all under 6 years old — and honestly wasn't sure what to expect. Chris and the team made it easy and fun from start to finish. The gear was top quality and the guides were incredible with the kids. Couldn't recommend it more highly."

Everything you want to know before booking.
-
We recommend ages 7 and up for most father & son trips. For the July Father Son Wolfpack, we suggest ages 12 and up as the routes are slightly more demanding. If your son is younger or you have questions, talk to us on the call — we'll be honest about the right fit.
-
None at all. Your guide will spend time on day one going over everything you need — forward stroke, turning, reading water, loading and unloading. Most father & son pairs are comfortable and confident by the end of day one. The trips are designed to be challenging enough to feel like an achievement without requiring prior skills.
-
The Father & Son trips are small group departures — a handful of father-son pairs sharing the experience. You'll have your own canoe and plenty of space, but there's a shared group energy around meals and campfire that most guests say adds to the experience rather than taking from it. If you want a completely private trip just for the two of you, we can arrange that too.
-
Everything except your personal clothing and toiletries. Canoes, paddles, PFDs, tents, sleeping bags and pads, all meals (three per day plus snacks), water purification, cooking equipment, and full guide services. We send a detailed packing list after booking so you know exactly what to bring.
